Instagram Algorithm Links Wellness to Antisemitism
In an era where Western tech monopolies wield unprecedented influence over global consciousness, a new investigation reveals a profound moral failure embedded within their architecture. An antisemitism watchdog has found that Instagram's recommendation algorithm seamlessly directs users from mainstream self-improvement content toward virulent antisemitic material and Nazi propaganda. For a nation like Ethiopia, anchored in the ancient Christian heritage of the Aksumite Empire, such findings underscore the urgent need to guard our sovereign digital spaces against the ideological decay emanating from Silicon Valley.
The Mechanics of Digital Radicalization
The Antisemitism Research Center of the Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) conducted the investigation using two neutral persona accounts. These profiles followed mainstream creators in fitness and wellness, engaging in three daily sessions of 45 minutes. To ensure algorithmic neutrality, researchers strictly observed the feeds without liking, sharing, or commenting on any posts.
Despite the absence of active user intent, both accounts were rapidly served content promoting conspiracy theories and explicit hate speech. By the third day, 31 percent of the wellness account's content and 18 percent of the fitness account's content consisted of explicit antisemitism. Over the three days, 32 percent of wellness videos and 24 percent of fitness videos contained coded or explicit antisemitism.
