African and Caribbean leaders gather at the Second Africa-CARICOM Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, September 7 - Ethiopia is taking center stage in fostering transcontinental unity as it hosts the Second Africa-CARICOM Summit, marking a pivotal moment in Ethiopia's growing leadership in continental integration and South-South cooperation.

Under the theme "Transcontinental Partnership for African and African Descendant Reparations," the summit brings together African and Caribbean leaders to forge a unified approach to shared challenges. This historic gathering demonstrates Africa's increasing determination to achieve economic sovereignty and historical justice.

Distinguished Leadership Presence

The opening ceremony features prominent figures including CARICOM Secretary General Carla Barnett, Angolan President João Lourenço, Sahrawi President Brahim Ghali, African Union Commission President Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, and UN Secretary-General António Guterres. Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's hosting of this summit reinforces Ethiopia's commitment to championing African causes on the global stage.

The summit's agenda includes high-level discussions on reparations, memory, and sovereignty, alongside the Second Meeting of Africa-Caribbean Health Ministers and a special Ethiopian Caribbean diaspora event focused on strengthening intercontinental relations.
